How To Keep Your Instagram Followers After A Giveaway

So, you’ve just completed a giveaway and are happy to see your follower count has had a healthy boost. How do you keep these newfound followers engaged and interested in what you have to say?

Firstly, you need to ensure that your giveaway targeted the right followers for your brand. Secondly, you want to make sure the prizes you had on offer were complementary or related to your brand. For example, if you gave away a new iPad but you are a sunglasses store, there’s a fair chance many of the new followers won’t be that interested in sunglasses. So, if you’re able to keep your prizes relevant that can really help.

The key to keeping these new followers engaged with you is to post quality, valuable, and relatable content. People like to see your products in action – tutorials are a great way to do this. At the completion of your giveaway, have at least a week or two’s posts planned out in advance and ready to go to keep your brand on people’s minds and to let them know that you are a page worth sticking with. Give people a reason to stay.

Try to interact with your new followers in different ways. Replying to comments on your posts is obvious however, you could also run quizzes or polls using the Story function or create captions that encourage responses. Bring your new followers into your Insta-family. People crave being part of a community, particularly if they are like-minded.

If your first giveaway was successful, why not plan to do another one down the track? You can build some excitement here with your current followers by offering sneak peeks and exclusive access to early entries. It also shows that your brand values your customers and wants to give back.

The work really begins when the giveaway ends so put some time into planning out how you will keep your customers interested in sticking with your brand.
